EXCERPT FROM THE INTERVIEW
The landscapes I’ve inhabited, the conversations that I’ve engaged in, the museums that I’ve visited, the food I’ve taken in, the music I listened to, all of what I’ve encountered out in the world accumulates. When I’m home, I can start finding the language to capture all that, to represent it. Poetry does more than represent. It allows us entry into language as a medium of communication, but also as something that divines all of our existence. A poem is an individual’s unique song, as they journey on earth.
