Welcome to the Official America: Now and Here Artist Corps Blog. This will be the headquarters for all things Artist Corps related—including (but not limited to!) art projects! community events! salon photos! artist updates! America stuff! commiseration on existential ennui! the occasional roadtrip mix! and other thoughtful and engaging this-and-that.
For those of you who are new: The Artist Corps is a cross-country movement of young and emerging artists (visual, musical, philosophical, etc), getting together to use their work to generate a new kind of dialogue about America. It is not only an opportunity to share your work, but also to participate in the America Now and Here nation-wide touring exhibition of visual arts, music, poetry and theatre (as well as all ANH events, salons and educational outreach programs) that will launch in 2011.
As curator of the Artist Corps, I (Hi! Im Maggie Mull) am tempted to spill here all the budding possibilities of this journey—and yet that would be impossible to do, since the Artist Corps is as much informed by its participants (you) as it is by its witty and good-looking curators (me). So, I will end this session as my psychiatrist ends all our sessions together, in the hopes that it will inspire you to visit again (perhaps for forty-five minutes, twice a week):
More will be revealed.
